There really is no way to express how good GOD is, and there is no way to express how bad evil, and therefore sin, is.

Even GOD cannot tell us either of these, the only way to truly understand either, is to experience them both.

When people say “why does GOD allow this suffering?”, they are saying they don’t want to experience, or to have others experience evil. While this is thoroughly understandable, it would deprive those people of the experience that would allow them to understand how bad evil is.

Even the suffering of people devastated by tornadoes is the result of evil, but we will leave that discussion for another day, or click here; for now we will focus on things where we can see the connection between actions and suffering. Such as war, crime, etc.

Since evil is the result of sin, it would also mean that GOD would have to violate someone’s autonomy, their free will, and force them not to sin, at least on some occasion, or occasions.

It seems safe to say that no one would want HIM to do that to themselves, even if they would be happy to see HIM do that to certain others.

GOD’S purpose being for us to be complete and perfected can only be achieved by allowing us to experience the suffering, to comprehend the depravity of evil and the goodness of HIMSELF.

If we didn’t experience both, we would be stunted and deformed; incomplete.

His one command, in John 15:17 was: “My command to you is to love one another" this includes sharing the experience of one another’s suffering.

He led the way by suffering himself, profoundly and to death, from which he emerged triumphantly. He then invited us to accept our own sufferings as a way to share in that triumph and HIS love, which is the source of all good, and the reason for HIS sacrifice.

Maybe this means the more serious our suffering is, the more deeply and fully we will come to understand HIS goodness when we come into his presence.

But maybe it’s better said by Jordan Peterson.
